Steal An Egg Scrambled Mutation: Target and Attempt Planning
Prepare the right egg and a limited Sample budget before trying a consumable whose current behavior has not been independently tested.
AllThingsHow’s September 27 report describes Scrambled as a Sample-shop consumable applied to an unhatched egg, costing 475 Samples with roughly a 10% success chance. Those are source reports, not a live test. Check the target, current price and item-consumption behavior before using a valuable egg or buying several attempts.
Use the described target
The report describes a one-time item for an egg before hatching and identifies a success notification. Eldorado also describes obtaining Scrambled consumables through the Dr. Scramble event. Neither report here establishes that the same item works on an already hatched pet or that every other mutation consumable uses identical rules.
- Open the current shop and read the item name, price and description.
- Choose an eligible unhatched egg whose loss or failed attempt you can tolerate.
- Record the Sample and consumable counts before use.
- Apply the item only through the current interaction prompt.
- Read the success or failure response, then check the egg and item counts before another attempt.
Separate an affordable trial from a long chase
Set a maximum spend before starting. If the live quote differs from 475, use the live value. Even when the price matches, the number of items you can buy does not predict the number of successful applications. Keep the cost of missing a pet purchase or another upgrade in the same budget.

| Observation | Next action |
|---|---|
| Item refuses the target | Recheck egg state and the item description |
| Attempt fails | Read the consumption result; do not assume a refund |
| Mutation appears | Inspect the egg and avoid unnecessary further attempts |
| Spend limit reached | Keep the remaining Samples for the next planned use |
Ten attempts need not mean one success
If a hypothetical action has a constant independent 10% chance, ten attempts give 1 − 0.9¹⁰ ≈ 65.13% chance of at least one success. They still give about 34.87% chance of none. This is conditional arithmetic using the reported chance as an assumption, not proof that live attempts are independent or that the chance is currently 10%.
When an application behaves differently
Keep the exact response and the before/after inventory states. A refused action, a consumed item without success and a confirmed mutation are three different results. Do not repeat an expensive action merely because an old guide suggests a workaround; first establish which result you saw.
Current eligibility, success chance, failure consumption and interactions with existing mutations require a direct test.
Common questions
How do I obtain and use the Scrambled mutation?
The September report describes buying a 475-Sample item and applying it to an unhatched egg. Read the current item description and result; success is not guaranteed.
